We are proud of our very active Senior Center here at the Stonestown Family YMCA, located at 3150 20th Avenue (across the street from the main branch). The facility is open to anyone 60 years of age or older, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. This endeavor is a collaboration between the Stonestown Famiy YMCA and Northern California Presbyterian Homes and Services Programs (RSVP). Programs are funded partially through San Francisco Office on the Aging and our Annual Community Support Campaign. Meals are provided by On Lok's 30th Street Senior Services.
We offer a wide variety of programs and services to our seniors, from fitness classes that are adapted to the needs of the active older adults, to traveling excursions for the more venturesome crowd. Highlights of our senior center include:
- Fitness programs that provide both aerobic and strength training components. We have an adapted exercise class for stroke survivors that meets three times a week, as well as weekly T'ai Chi classes and other group exercise classes that focus on the whole body, mind and spirit.
See Annex class schedule in the "Recreational & Fitness Programs" section below.
- Recreational activities - personal enrichment classes and community college courses are offered. Our newest class is Japanese Taiko drumming!
- Health and nutrition - hot lunches served Monday through Friday for a voluntary donation. Healthy services include weekly blood pressure monitoring, various monthly health screenings, foot clinics and counseling.
- Holidays and special events - celebrated in style, including a special holiday celebration in the month of December.
- Excursions! We offer both domestic and overseas trips with expert escorts. Every trip is a fun, memborable experience!
