Pt. Bonita YMCA                                     YMCA Camp Jones Gulch

For most of it's history, the YMCA of San Francisco has been known for offering free or inexpensive accommodations, a tradition that began more than 100 years ago with the housing of men with little means searching for employment or those who served in the armed forces. Staying in a YMCA room has been mentioned in song and literature and the list of people who stayed at YMCA residences nationally ranges from Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy's Restaurants, to country music star Charlie Rich, and black revolutionary Malcolm Little, later known as Malcolm X. Locally, San Francisco's Mayor Willie Brown stayed at the Central YMCA hotel when he first arrived in the city.
