YMCA Water Safety Tips

1.  Actively supervise your children when they are both in and around the water.

2.  Teach children to swim at an early age and educate them early about water safety.

3.  Instruct children to never run, push or jump on others in and around the pool.

4. Become certified in infant and child CPR.

5. Make sure children always wear life jackets and use proper water safety devices.

6. Ensure that kids drink plenty of fluids to stay properly hydrated, especially on

    hot days.

7. When outdoors, wear hats and sunglasses and apply sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher

to protect yourself and your children from sun exposure.

8. Do not enter water you cannot see the bottom of without supervision.

9. Always locate the lifeguard and follow their rules.

10.  Make sure safety equipment and a first aid kit are always present.
